The DIA’s Diego Rivera Court will explode with innovative music featuring multi-GRAMMY-nominated string ensemble PUBLIQuartet and special guest, legendary Detroit jazz guitarist-composer A. Spencer Barefield. PQ performs a World Premiere of MacArthur “Genius” composer George Lewis's String Quartet 3.5 “Great Migrations” (commissioned by Koussevitzky Foundation, Library of Congress). Celebrate Creative Arts Collective's 46 years of presenting hundreds of ground-breaking, award-winning concerts of avant garde and revolutionary music curated and produced by Barefield at the DIA and elsewhere. Barefield’s compositions (and works by Vijay Iyer, Sun Ra, Henry Threadgill) will be performed. Barefield’s daughter Jannina Norpoth is a violinist with PQ.
