The groundbreaking stage play that became a film and catapulted an "American Idol" alumna to superstardom will celebrate Easter Weekend in Michigan.
Dreamgirls 20th Anniversary Movie Experience will be held April 4-5 at Detroit Music Hall with shows Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Combining a live performance by the iconic vocalist, Jennifer Holliday, a member of the Dreamgirls Broadway show, with a re-screening of the 2006 movie adaptation that earned TV host Jennifer Hudson an Oscar, the event is designed to appeal across generations. The film adaptation of a 1960's-era, Supremes-inspired trio's rise to fame also starred Beyonce' and Eddie Murphy.
Actress and producer Raven-Symoné, who gained prominence after appearing on TV's "The Cosby Show," followed by Disney Channel's "That's So Raven," will host the live audience.
