Oluyemi Thomas Detroit Trio w/ Jaribu Shahid & Kenn Thomas

Returning to Moondog on December 21 is Detroit native, Oakland-based saxophonist, bass clarinetist, artist & improvisor Oluyemi Thomas. Oluyemi will be joined by his brother Kenn Thomas, a Michigan-based composer, educator & pianist as well as legendary Detroit bassist Jaribu Shahid. From his work with Griot Galaxy to the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Shahid has been a principle keeper of the flame in Detroit’s creative music scene for something akin to half a century. That makes for some deep company and infinite possibilities on the Moondog stage for this winter solstice evocation.
