In partnership with the Detroit Parks Coalition, the Friends of Rouge Park are hosting the Rouge Park Buffalo Soldiers and Blues Freedom Festival, highlighting the history of the Buffalo Soldiers, the all-Black U.S. Army units that distinguished themselves during westward expansion in the 19th century.
The event will bring history to light with pony rides and museum and barn tours. Attendees will enjoy live Blues music from Big Pete and Friends as well as African drumming from Nanou Djapo. Food will be provided by Marichona’s Cuisine and lawn games will also be available. Registration is encouraged.
