Sky Covington’s Preservation of Jazz Monday Night Music Series celebrates Black History Month through jazz as the foundation of Black musical expression. February opens with Take Five: An All-Male Jazz Revue honoring Louis Armstrong, Donny Hathaway, Leon Thomas, and Al Jarreau. The Satin Doll Revue follows, honoring Billie Holiday, Etta James, Nancy Wilson, and Nina Simone. Sophisticated Ladies pays tribute to Shirley Horn, Etta Jones, and Betty Carter, and the month concludes with Kings of Soul, a journey through classic Black soul music.
