Vernal Soirée

$500+
Buffalo Prescott will present Vernal 2026, its annual exhibition and fundraiser, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at its Detroit headquarters. Marking a moment of seasonal renewal and collective gathering, Vernal brings together artists, supporters, and the broader community to celebrate the organization’s ongoing work and future vision.

Curated by founder Samara Furlong, the Vernal exhibition features work by current and former Buffalo Prescott residents alongside artists from Detroit and beyond. Spanning a range of materials, scales, and formal approaches, the presentation reflects shared themes of transformation, interconnection, and world-building—offering space for reflection, imagination, and collective care.

Highlights of the exhibition include pieces by current resident artists Halima Afi Cassells, Cyrah Dardas, Sara Nickleson, Tony Printz, and Jessica Wildman Katz. Together, these works create a layered environment that speaks to both personal and collective modes of healing, memory, and renewal and will remain on view through Saturday, June 27.

For this occasion, Buffalo Prescott’s space will be transformed into an immersive environment developed in collaboration with resident artists. The evening will include an exhibition viewing alongside music, food, and drink, creating a dynamic and welcoming atmosphere that reflects the organization’s ethos: thoughtful, art-forward, and rooted in community.

The Vernal Soirée serves as Buffalo Prescott’s primary annual fundraiser, with all proceeds directly supporting its artist residency program, public programming, and broader mission to nurture Detroit’s contemporary arts ecosystem. Since its founding, the organization has supported artists through no-cost studio space, professional development, and opportunities to present work in both local and international contexts.
